History:

Bishop Zodwa Gomba also known widely just as Mama Zodwa, is the very first Campus Crusade missionary that we started the Smart Choices program with in 2004.  When we met her she was living in two rooms of a partially built house with about five orphans.  Over the next few years we helped her to get the building completed to make more comfortable living conditions for more orphans. Our first association with her was in Richards Bay but in 2008 she married Bishop Gomba and moved north to Soshanguve.  She has continued to be a staunch supporter and advocate of Smart Choices.  Over the years she has had a number of responsible young people being team leaders for her team. 

Prayer:

One of the patterns we have continued to see in our teams is young people who have been participating in the team being offered jobs.  This has been particularly prevalent in Zodwa’s teams.  This is a good thing because the experience from working on the teams has prepared them for the next phase of their life. This is a good thing but also it creates a challenge of filling the vacated spots with new trainees. For all of our teams finances are a challenge and a continuous point of prayer.  Another ongoing prayer need, is favor with the Education Department and the school principals to open up new opportunities for reaching the youth.
