Clements Dad was a Zionist preacher and Clement was following
in his dads footsteps but discovered that he was being ostracized from
being a guest preach because he would always only preach the pure gospel
of Christ and Him crucified and would stop short of other ancestor worship
that has been incorporated into the Zionist religion.
Clement converted the Zionist congregation that he inherited from
his dad to an evangelical Christian congregation and renamed the church
Living Stones Covenant Church. Together with some of his
parishioners they started making their own concrete blocks and built their
own new church building. This
building project was completed and inaugurated in August 2005.
Living stones is one of the local churches that
partnered with us in 2006 as we taught the Smart Choices program for the
second time. Pastor Clement,
wife Thuli and three parishioners Beverly, Thandi, and Nonhlanhla were in
the teaching teams.
Recently (early 2007) Clement became aware of a new
need in his community and took a pole of children in their area and how
well they were being cared for. He
came to the shocking but not completely unexpected realization that there
were thirty three children that had lost one or both parents and were net
getting at least one good meal a day.
His church has committed to do the only thing that a
self-respecting Christian community could do and that is to take on the
responsibility of providing housing for those kids that need it and to
provide meals for all the children.
We continue to be amazed that those that have so little are prepared to
give so much. |

message.
